Using Scented Candles to Celebrate New Year's Eve |

My sister hosted Thanksgiving dinner this year and decorated her table with the most beautiful candles, but they weren't scented because she didn't want the smell of the candles to interfere with the aromatics from the baking turkey, stuffing, and pies. She has such a sophisticated way of entertaining and it had never occurred to me to not mix aromas. I'm hosting a non family New Year's Eve party where the food isn't the big item, so I'm going to order some scented candles for the evening that will spark up the atmosphere.
This year I ordered six of these lime basil scented candles and think that will be the perfect aroma for our evening. Lime is a wonderful smell, and so is basil. If it doesn't freeze, I can even cut some fresh basil off my huge bush in the backyard and use it to flesh out some flower bouquet for the table. I have even more rosemary growing in the backyard, and I will use that too as a table decoration.
We are serving a pork loin and those herbal scents will pair nicely with our dinner. The flickering lights will be nice, the smells will be heavenly, and since I finally found the decorating theme for New Year's Eve, I can start planning everything else I need to make it a festive occasion, from the food to the decorations. The Lime Basil Essential Blend scented candles were just what I needed to start my party plans. I found them at Purple Rose Candles & Gifts located at www.purplerosecandlesandgifts.com.
In fact, since we live in the desert southwest, I think I'll decorate with all things native to the desert. I'll use pomegranates, prickly pear pads and fruit, lots of rosemary, oranges, limes and grapefruit, and I'll pot some of the aloe vera growing like crazy in the front yard. The food will be local, too, which should be a lot of fun to gather and shop for. There are some organic farms just 10 miles from my house where I can get lots of fresh produce, and there's a pork shop nearby where I'll get the pork loin. All in all, this party is sounding better and better all the time. And I have plenty of time to shop around online and find more than just these perfect scented candles, too, for things that I can't get locally. If I get it all organized well before the event, everything will go quickly and smoothly, and we can all celebrate the New Year's holiday in high style enjoying saying good bye to this year and welcoming the next.
