Citronella scented candles repel pests |

Saturday I went into the city for my one brother's annual block party. I got there early and helped him and his wife set up. My sister-in-law brought out a citronella scented candle and placed it on the table as we were setting up. I figured we'd light it later as the day wore on and the sun went down, but I was pretty surprised to find we needed to light it sooner.
When the food was coming off the grill and we were getting a buffet table set up, out of no where we had three or four bees visiting us. As if that wasn't enough, the bees decided they wanted to try the food as well. So we placed the citronella scented candle on that table and lit it. Now I know the benefits of citronella scented candles for keeping mosquitoes at bay, but I was surprised to find that within minutes of lighting the scented candle, the bees decided it was time to vacate our party. That was the last we'd seen of them too. We later lit the citronella scented candle after the food was put away and we were just hanging out at the other table, but the wind had blown it out. Oh well, thankfully we didn't actually need it to keep the bugs away. We just needed it for the candle light, which is why we lit it again later when the sun went down.
