I seem to use more candles in my home during the cold winter months than I do during summer. I think that there are three reasons why I use candles more in winter. First of all I cannot really open the windows in my home for too long when the weather is freezing outside. Nor can I open my front or back doors to let air come in through my screen doors. Therefore in winter my house tends to get stuffy and I have three pets living at home. Lighting scented candles improves the way my home smells when I can’t open up the windows the way I would like to.
Another reason I use more candles in winter is that we spend more time inside at home. In the summer we go out to different places more and we spend a lot of time outdoors either gardening or swimming in the pool. If I am not at home to use candles it only makes sense that I am going to use them less.
I also use candles more in winter is that they make me feel comfortable by creating a warm and cozy ambience in my home while it is freezing cold outside. For instance right now I can see several feet of snow on the ground outside each time I look out of the picture window in my living room. I am sat on the leather sofa while writing this and there is a candle burning on the table. The contrast between what is indoors and what I see outside makes me feel very grateful.
