If I have learned anything on how to be romantic from TV or movies, the job is never complete unless there are candles illuminating rose pedals over a bed cover. With Valentine’s Day coming up next month turning to the romantic schooling learned thanks to Hollywood is underway. The search for flameless candles has begun. It is nice to have actual flickering flames but setting up the perfect night with my girlfriend calls for the safer route. The idea is to go out to dinner, share a couple drinks between nice words and then come back to the romantified (should be a word) bedroom at my place.
Instead of having her wait in the living room while I go in there and light every last wick, leaving the flameless candles on the entire time is better. Going from front door to bedroom seems like a more spontaneous way of doing it. I saw how much a local home store was trying to sell these kinds of candles and almost threw up. Luckily, there are online retailers not interested in gutting consumers with overpriced product.
