Last night I walked in the house and when I noticed the smell of fried fish, I immediately lit a candle. My husband and I are hosting a wedding reception at our home this weekend and I decided that the safest thing to use for lighting would be a flameless candle. Flameless candles are becoming more and more popular. I see them everywhere I go these days, it seems. There are even scented ones! I love using them myself, because I have five kids and they are much safer. I don't have to worry about them getting knocked over and starting a fire. The kids can't burn themselves if they get curious and want to touch it. If I forget about it, and leave the house it doesn't matter because it can't do any harm. I can also set them near drapery and fabrics and never have to worry about it catching them on fire. It is just safer and takes a lot of worry off of me. Flameless candles are great for houses where there are children. The scented ones are amazing, letting the scent fill the air without adding any smoke is great. My house smells wonderful when I use flameless candles. There are different scents and styles to match any decor. I've even seen holiday themes and seasonal colors, which are fun to have as well.

This year for mothers day, I only asked for one thing: a new candle to burn while I took a relaxing bath. I got my wish and my husband purchased me a great scented candle and gave it to me on mothers day. That evening, I ran hot water, poured in some bath salts and bubbles, lit my new candle and slid into what was honestly one of my most relaxing baths ever.

It is amazing how just one new candle can change the ambiance of my bathroom so much. My bath went from nice and bubbly, to a real feeling spa experience. I am so glad that my husband listened to what I wanted and bought me a great new candle. The simplicity of a gift is sometimes the best thing about it. I am so looking forward to my next luxurious bubble bath.

Next year for mothers day, I am going to ask my husband to get me the exact same gift as he did this year. Although, if he threw in some bath salts or bubbles, that would be nice too. Either way, I am very happy with what he gave to me and I plan on using it until it is completely gone.

The Candle in the Window Was Just the Beginning

Last night as I arrived home from a girls evening, I noticed that a candle was burning in the front window. I knew that my husband was home alone, so I found it completely odd that he would be burning a candle when he was home alone. In fact, I found it odd that he would even think to light one, since it’s me who always burns them. When I walked in the door, I saw that there wasn’t just one candle burning, but many. My husband had a bottle of wine chilled and he greeted me at the door with a kiss and a glass of wine. Of course, I was wondering what this man had done with my husband, but I didn’t want to ruin the moment by making such a remark, so I decided to enjoy. We sat in the living room and talked for a while and he said that he knew he’d been working a lot lately and hadn’t had much time to spend with me, and when he saw the box containing the candles that I’d ordered from the Internet, it gave him an idea to do something special. Needless to say, I hope to have many more of these evenings in the future. It was a wonderful night.

Our neighbor below our apartment patio loves to smoke not only cigarettes but cigars. There is no law against it so when they light up I always try to close the glass patio door to keep our stuff from stinking like smoke. On first whiff, I’m up and slamming the door shut to make an impression. The best way I have found to clear the air is by simply lighting a scented candle. The saying, “You don’t know what you got until it is gone,” kept repeating through my head after my girlfriend and I broke up. It had all started after a stupid fight set on after I went out with friends instead of taking her to the movies as was the plan the day prior. It doesn’t seem like much of anything but it spurred on an argument that escalated to the point of her walking out the door. In my frustration, I didn’t go after her or even call for a day. It didn’t take long before I realized where she was coming from and that I was in the wrong. She may have said some things she shouldn’t have in the heat of the moment but I’m sure I did too.

I then went on a mission to win her back. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but with the right idea and a little bit of heartfelt planning I was confident it would all work out for the best. Since the fight originated from not spending time with her, I created a romantic dinner plan that put gourmet food, at least my attempt at it, on the table with a bouquet of flowers to meet her when she knocked on the door. I cooked a salmon in chicken broth and white wine for a couple of hours on low heat and after pulling the foil off the top the meat slid right of the skin. Last night when I got home from work, I noticed when I checked the mail that I had an invitation to a housewarming that a dear friend is giving.
